Silica sand is the oldest and most widely used granular filtration media in the world. Naturally occurring, washed, and precisely sieved, it remains a reliable and cost-effective solution for removing suspended solids from water. Silica sand is commonly used in swimming pool filters, municipal water treatment plants, and pressurised filtration systems.
Different sand grades offer varying filtration performance and are selected based on the application. Fine grades are used for surface filtration of particles, while coarser layers such as silex and gravel provide structural support and ensure stable water flow inside the filter.
Although many modern applications now use advanced media with higher performance, silica sand remains a dependable choice for traditional pool filters and groundwater treatment systems.
